First Winter in Japan

First Winter in Japan
One winter morning, after having my breakfast, I felt sleepy so I took a nap and when I woke up I hastily went to the kitchen.

My Japanese husband and I were living together with his parents at the time. I helped my mother-in-law in cooking our lunch because I will be late for my nihongo class in the afternoon.

At 1:15pm, I was ready for school. My husband had no job yet at that time, so he used to take me to the school by car. When my husband opened the door, I saw snow falling from the sky. It was my first Winter in Japan and my first time to see snow so I felt thrilled and excited. I told my husband to take picture of me with snow falling on me. But he told me that next month is better for taking pictures because there will be a lot of snow falling. But the next month, I only saw a drizzle of snow once from the sky. My husband told me that this year's winter was a little bit strange.

Since I arrived in Japan I learned to always check the temperature. However, when I was in the Philippines I never checked the temperature, because we don't care about it, the temperature in the Philippines is almost all the same all year.

At that time, the temperature in our room, while the heater was turned on, was 21.4 degrees celsius but that afternoon when I went outside, the temperature was 3 degree celsius. It was really freezing and I had to wear three layers of clothes plus a down jacket to make me warm. Fortunately, I haven't caught a cold yet since I got here.

Now, I've gotten used to the weather already. Of the four seasons of Japan, the one I like most is winter. Because I can wear a coat, muffler, gloves, and boots which I love to wear.
